Teenagers in the state of California under the age of 17 1/2 are required to take Driver's Education in order to be able to take their DMV written test and get their instruction permit. Most high schools in the state of California are no longer offering Driver's Ed. This basically leaves you with two options.
You could go to a driving school and spend 30 hours of your valuable time attending one of their boring classroom driver ed courses, having to inconvenience your parents to drop you off and pick you up on 4 separate days, more than likely after school or early Saturday mornings.
OR...
You could take our online or workbook Driver Education home study course. As an authorized affiliate of PEN's Driver Ed. & Drug & Alcohol Awareness Course, you can enroll into PEN's booklet or on-line course directly through us. This option is particularly appealing for teens that just don't have the time to spend on a 30 hour course. You can do all your work from the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, and in your spare time. Even though many of our students finish the course in no time, you have up to 30 days to do so. Upon successful completion of the course, PEN will mail you a Drivers Ed Completion Certificate (DMV form DL387) which you can take to the DMV to take your written test and get your learner's permit.
